Scotts Philippines Inc.
Who we are:
Scotts Philippines Inc., also known as The Ascott Limited Philippines, is a leading international lodging owner-operator committed to sustainability and reducing environmental impact. With 17 operating properties across five distinct brands: Ascott, Oakwood, Somerset, Citadines, and lyf, Ascott is rapidly expanding – driven by a community of dedicated hoteliers committed to exceptional service and sustainable practices.
As a trusted accommodation provider with a global reach, The Ascott Limited is dedicated to extending our culture of care and hospitality to the people and environments we engage with through our business and throughout our supply chain. We strive to fulfill this promise through our sustainability program, Ascott C.A.R.E.S (Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, Supply Chain), with the support of our associates and strong alliances with like-minded partners along our journey.
Tell us about sustainability, what are you good at?
At Ascott, sustainability is a core principle that drives our operations and growth strategy. To further support our sustainability efforts, we have introduced the Ascott CARES framework, which aligns with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) considerations and GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) Criteria. This framework is built around five key pillars: Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, and Supply Chain. These pillars guide our initiatives to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable practices throughout our organization.
Our initiatives include installing energy-efficient lighting, implementing water-saving devices, and establishing comprehensive waste management programs across our properties. We are committed to introducing sustainable food options in our restaurants by either growing our own produce or collaborating with local farmers to highlight responsible farming, and we aim to eliminate single-use plastics in all our properties by 2025.
We aspire to positively impact the communities we touch through our operations. We prioritize local employment and mobilize staff and partnerships to contribute skills and resources to support local environmental and social causes. We also embed cultural sustainability within our framework by introducing locally made products that reflect the unique traditions of each location and showcasing these cultural nuances to create a distinct identity in our properties.
Health and safety are of utmost importance to Ascott. Our rigorous health and safety standards, along with well-being programs, cultivate a proactive “safety culture,” ensuring our team members feel secure at work and our guests know they are in good hands.
These efforts are overseen by our Sustainability Council, which is dedicated to the positive impact these measures will have on both our operations and the environment.
Ascott’s commitment to sustainability and its efforts to promote environmentally responsible practices are integral to our mission.
Why did you choose GSTC certification?
The Ascott Limited is dedicated to advancing our global lodging business with sustainability as a core value. We believe that long-term success hinges on making business decisions that benefit both people and the planet, aligning perfectly with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Our Ascott CARES initiative aims to be consistent stewards of sustainable travel and tourism by educating our client base on the importance of adopting sustainable practices.
We view GSTC as the gold standard for effective sustainable management systems. It enhances social fairness in tourism while supporting economic, cultural, and environmental sustainability. This certification underscores our commitment to being responsible stewards of the environment and leaders in the global hospitality industry.
